COMPARE CAYUSE424 TO FREE SOLUTIONS
Does Cayuse424 submit proposals to Grants.gov? Grants.gov submissions are completely handled by Cayuse424. Cayuse424 provides many functions critical to the proposal development process, including full budget development, routing, approval, tracking and electronic submission. Review our Features page for a list of the many productivity enhancements offered by Cayuse424.
What about the "free" PureEdge viewer from Grants.gov? If by "free" you mean free to download, then yes, Grants.gov has supplied an application that allows individual PC and Mac users to prepare and electronically submit proposals directly to Grants.gov. But free has a hefty price tag. PureEdge increases the difficulty of many tasks from collaborating on proposals to printing. Cayuse424 is a superior solution in every way. The comment we most often hear in our conversations with customers who have used the free product, "PureEdge is not an institutional solution." Check out our Product Comparison page for further details.
How will Adobe Forms affect Cayuse424? Since Cayuse424 is a complete replacement for the free solutions, Cayuse customers will be completely insulated from any transition issues from Grants.gov. Without Cayuse 424, your institution will have to train on yet another system for submission.
But won't the Adobe Forms solve all the problems with PureEdge? Tests of beta software versions of the Adobe forms for NIH revealed that Grants.gov has fixed a few things in Adobe but has, in essence, designed this latest solution to behave exactly like PureEdge. The short answer is no, it will not solve the problems with PureEdge.
WORKING IN CAYUSE424
How much more efficient is Cayuse424 compared to PureEdge? Our most experienced customers tell us that it takes about 35 minutes to complete and submit a standard size R01 to NIH.
How much training will it take to use Cayuse424? While training is always recommended, many users are able to work in Cayuse424 with minimal to no training. Keep in mind that you have already done the hard work of using the system: training your staff on the new forms and the institutional procedures for submission to Grants.gov. Using Cayuse424 is easy compared to training on those issues.
How can Cayuse424 help us with our Research Plan and BioSketch Documents? Since Word is the dominant method for creating Research Plans, we've enhanced it with special templates to help you become more productive. A Cayuse add-in allows you to take a pre-existing Research Plan and format it for paper or electronic submission without tedious cut-and-paste operations.
A powerful feature of Cayuse424 is its ability to break apart a single, properly formatted PDF of the Research Plan and attach as many as 16 sections to the correct forms with one click of the mouse. Finally, Cayuse424 uses a document repository for both the submission PDFs and the source documents on the server for backup and collaboration.
Can Cayuse424 manage data on non-federal proposals and route them for approval? Through a variety of product innovations, we have created a Generic Proposal workspace that allows you to upload primary documents and enter information about proposals to any federal and non-federal agency. This allows you to use Cayuse424 as a comprehensive proposal repository for managing, routing and approving all grant proposals.
Security is very important to us. How good is Cayuse424 security? Security controls are built into every aspect of Cayuse424, giving you the greatest amount of flexibility and productivity. Highly configurable institutional business rules also control many of the higher level activities, such as reports and submission.
